No4 Cromer – A Seaside Staycation Gem on the North Norfolk Coast…

When a friend and I set out to find somewhere special for a seaside escape, we had two key things in mind: we wanted to be close to the beach, and we wanted to enjoy dinner and drinks within walking distance. We weren’t prepared to compromise on quality or comfort – and luckily, with No.4 Cromer, we didn’t have to.

As we arrived, we were greeted by a charming blue front door adorned with a beautiful seasonal wreath - a small touch, but one that instantly made us feel welcome. The off-road parking right outside made things super easy, and as we rang the original bell with a pull-handle (which gives off the most delightfully old-fashioned chime), we just knew we’d found somewhere special.

Angie and Paul, our hosts, welcomed us warmly and showed us around their beautifully styled B&B. The interiors are modern and chic, yet the original charm of the building has been lovingly preserved – the perfect blend of old and new.

We stayed in The Lookout Room, and it absolutely lived up to its name. Spacious and thoughtfully designed, it featured a king-sized bed, a comfy sofa and coffee table, a TV, a telescope for skywatching, and a stunning en-suite with a freestanding bath - ideal for a long soak after a day of coastal exploring. Thoughtful touches like homemade granola bites, tea, coffee, hot chocolate (and a cheeky chocolate treat for Easter!) made us feel so well cared for!

Before we even arrived, Angie and Paul had sent us fantastic local recommendations, including Gibsons Bistro, just a few minutes’ walk away. After freshening up, we headed out to explore – but not before stopping off at The Cabin for a scoop of their famous Dubai Chocolate ice cream (because yes, ice cream before dinner is allowed when you're on holiday!).

We wandered down to the pier – one of Cromer's most iconic spots – and it was absolutely buzzing in the sunshine. The view was stunning, the air was fresh, and although we did have that familiar little tug of “the kids would love this,” it was so refreshing to have time just for us. Cromer’s pier is perfect for a scenic stroll, and there’s always a lovely atmosphere - a mix of families, couples, dog walkers, and locals just enjoying the day.

Dinner at Gibsons was everything we hoped for: a relaxed vibe, friendly staff, and food that absolutely hit the spot. Afterwards, we moved on over to Shoreline, a stylish little cocktail bar just a couple of minutes away, where we sampled a few local gins and enjoyed the upbeat, trendy atmosphere. We even popped into The Albion as well for a surprise karaoke night - spontaneous fun at its best!

What I loved most about our trip was the sense of freedom - everything was walkable, and we felt like we could just go with the flow and soak up whatever came our way. Cromer is that kind of place - full of charm, with hidden gems around every corner.

Back at No.4 Cromer, one of my favourite touches was the breakfast experience. Their breakfast is optional, so if you’re not a fan of breakfast, you don’t need to pay for it - you just choose when you book. We were having breakfast, so when we checked-in, we were asked what time we’d like it delivered, and in the morning it was quietly left outside our door – a beautifully prepared tray with homemade overnight oats, fresh croissants, and a (very necessary!) flask of coffee. Being able to enjoy breakfast in our PJs, in the comfort of our room, felt like such a luxury - it's these thoughtful details that make this place really stand out.

Whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a weekend with friends, or even a future family trip, I can’t recommend No.4 Cromer highly enough. Angie & Paul understand that a guest’s personal space is key to them having a relaxing getaway, and their set-up means you don’t have to interact with anybody once you have checked-in, unless you wish to. This is so refreshing if you just want to get away from it all and not have the hassle of making small-talk!  The love, care, and attention they pour into their B&B shines through in every detail. I can’t wait to return with my boys and experience it all over again.

If you’re looking for a relaxed and stylish retreat by the North Norfolk coast, No.4 Cromer is a gem you won’t want to miss.
