A New Chapter for UK Staycations & Small Businesses
For too long, staycations have been seen as the second-best option. You’ve probably heard the phrase: “We’re only having a staycation this year.” But that mindset is about to change. The UK is full of stunning destinations, unique accommodation, and incredible small businesses - so why not celebrate them properly?
That’s exactly what Social Stays is here to do.
A New Beginning
Launching The Social Spot (@__thesocialspot__) gave me an even bigger appreciation for staycation properties in the UK. But here, it's not just about building a website, it’s about creating a community. A space where staycation hosts and small businesses can come together, support one another, and show people why holidaying in the UK is something to be truly excited about.
From the dramatic coastlines of Cornwall to the rolling hills of the Lake District, from cosy log cabins in Scotland to invigorating stays in North Norfolk - there are so many hidden gems waiting to be discovered. And behind each one is a hardworking, passionate host who has carefully created an unforgettable experience for their guests.
I want to bring these people together, highlight their work, and make it easier for travellers to find special, independently run places to stay - all while supporting local businesses at the same time.
What Social Stays is All About
So, what’s the plan? To kick things off, I’m selecting the first 15 staycation properties to feature on The Social Spot, offering them an exclusive opportunity to be at the heart of this new platform. Each property will receive:
✔ A dedicated listing on the website
✔ A co-written blog post showcasing their property and the best things to do nearby
✔ Regular social media promotion, including a welcome post and ongoing support for any last-minute availability, deals, or offers
✔ Access to a private Facebook group where staycation hosts and small businesses can network and share advice
✔ Yearly in-person networking events to strengthen our community
This isn’t just about helping properties fill bookings - it’s about creating a movement where independent stays and businesses grow together.

Why travel abroad when there’s so much beauty right here in the UK? Whether it’s a converted barn in the countryside, a peaceful coastal retreat, or a woodland cabin with a crackling fire, staycations offer something truly special.
By highlighting these wonderful places and the fantastic cafés, shops, and attractions nearby, I hope to inspire more people to choose the UK for their next getaway.
